American rapper French Montana has sparked excitement among Ugandan music fans after confirming that he has already completed his verse for a possible collaboration with rising Ugandan singer Joshua Baraka.
The rapper, whose real name is Karim Kharbouch, made the revelation on social media shortly after arriving in Morocco. Responding to a fan’s message praising Montana for previously spotlighting Uganda on the global music scene and urging him to work with Joshua Baraka., Montana posted: “I just touch down in Moroccoooo 🔥 my verse done.”
Morocco meeting fuels collaboration talk
French Montana, who was born in Morocco, is currently in the country at the same time as Joshua Baraka. Both artistes are among the performers booked for activities surrounding the 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco Fanzone.
Their presence in the same location has further fueled speculation that the collaboration could move from idea to reality, especially with Montana publicly confirming that his part of the song is already done.

AFCON Fanzone performances
The AFCON Fanzone is a special fan engagement space set up during major football tournaments. It allows supporters to watch matches on large screens while enjoying food, drinks, merchandise and live entertainment from top performers across the continent and beyond.
Joshua Baraka is expected to share the stage with major African and international stars, including French Montana, Davido, Joeboy, Stonebwoy, and other leading artistes, giving the Ugandan singer exposure to a wider audience.
The Africa Cup of Nations tournament runs for about a month, with the final scheduled for January 18, meaning several days of performances and fan activities alongside the football action.
Ugandan Presence At AFCON
Baraka is not the only Ugandan representing the country in Morocco. Renowned dance group Triplets Ghetto Kids are also in attendance. The group performed on December 20 during the Toma Football Tournament, an event that served as an early fan activation ahead of AFCON.
Their participation continues Uganda’s growing visibility at major international entertainment and sports events.
Not Montana’s First Ugandan Connection
This potential collaboration would not be French Montana’s first interaction with Ugandan talent. The rapper has previously shown interest in African music and artistes, making his latest engagement with Joshua Baraka particularly significant for Uganda’s music industry.
While no official release date has been announced, fans across Uganda and beyond are already eagerly waiting to see whether the collaboration will materialize into a full song.
